First Inspiration

Today is my Mom's birthday. She is the most talented artist that I know and one of those people who is good at anything and everything she tries whether it is playing a sport, doing home improvements, cooking, or decorating - she can do it all - and do it to perfection. But, probably her biggest talent is painting. When I smell oil paint it makes me think of my mom. When I was little and playing on the floor by the dining room table I thought paint tubes, turpentine, and canvases, and art easels were found in everyone's home.

I am lucky to have pieces that my Mom has painted over the years hanging throughout our home. This is a painting that she did many years ago after my Dad was stationed in Spain. It is so colorful and serene and has always been one of my favorites.

She also paints a lot of decorative pieces and I have many of those treasures she has created over the years. The one pictured below is a treasure chest that she painted for my birthday a few years ago and it is lined in velvet. She always pays attention to every detail - that's one of the things I love most about her!

My Mom. She is a continual source of inspiration to me I love you, Momma. Happy Birthday!
