Happy Good Friday!

This week has been all about Easter and Spring at our house. These beautiful branches were hanging over our back fence and so yesterday I dragged out the ladder and got the loppers and started chopping away. They were on our side of the fence, so technically they belong to us, right?! I don't know what kind of tree it is, so if any of you know, please enlighten me. I don't remember the tree's flowers being this beautiful shade of red before. They perfectly match my Victorian couch.

Since I got hooked on making doily baskets earlier this week, I had to make one for my Bunny Family. I've had these bunnies since I was a young girl. While I was growing up my Mom made me a doll's cake every year for my birthday. How I loved those doll cakes. A few years ago, Martha Stewart showed how to make dolls' cakes on her show and I remember that I had to call my Mom on the phone right away to reminisce with her about all those cakes she made for me.

However, when I turned 12 she decided that I was too old to have doll cakes and since my birthday was on Easter that year she put these little bunnies on a sheet cake. At the time, I wasn't very happy about it, and I am sure I even pouted for a little while. But you know, even though I loved all my doll cakes and I have pictures of every single one, I didn't keep any of the dolls. Who knows what happened to them. The funny thing is, I did keep this silly, little whimsical bunny family. If you look closely at them you can see that Daddy Bunny doesn't have a nose anymore - I'll have to do something about that. And Daddy Bunny and Baby Sister Bunny also suffered the hazards of being on a birthday cake and you can see that they are a little singed. But no matter, I still love them anyway.

Happy Good Friday and Happy Easter Family Memories!

  2. LOVE the floral display Elaine! How wonderful!!! I wish I had a neighbor with something I could "mistakenly" chop down.

    What a beautiful display.

  3. I love the branch arrangement! I also love your couch! WOW! It's beautiful! You have to love it when the neighbors don't keep their tree branches tidy!
