Curious, I picked up a copy fully expecting it to be one huge ad for the Food Network. I was pleasantly surprised, however, because inside were eye catching photos and mouthwatering recipes. Included in this issue is a peek into Tyler Florence's home kitchen, and a step-by-step photo guide to a pizza recipe from Ina Garten's new cookbook, Back to Basics. There were also recipes for everyone - the weekend cook who enjoys cooking the Sunday dinner, the Vegetarian, and the Pasta Lover. And, of course, the Dessert lover.
There are also food tips and a column by food critic, Ted Allen, and it includes a small removeable insert of "50 Toast Toppers" - perfect with the holidays right around the corner.
The focus "Cook Like a Star" I found to be the biggest drawback to the magazine, but I think there are some really good features and while it is no Everyday Food, I would pick it up again, if for no other reason than to see recipes from some of my favorites over at the network. And for $3.99 - it doesn't take a huge bite out of your wallet.
Nice Review!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the insight and review, Elaine. I've been looking for the issue. I'm very curious to see the quality (or lack of). I'll be sure to pick it up now!
ReplyDeleteDoes it leave you "hungry for more"? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Elaine! While I'm not a big Paula fan, I love INA! I'll have to thumb through it and pick a copy up!
