Great Backyard Bird Count Goes Global

Exciting News! For the first time ever, bird lovers around the world can count birds for the Great Backyard Bird Count - all they need is access to the Internet. The count takes place February 15 - 18, 2013 and all you have to do is watch birds for at least 15 minutes on one or more of the count days, estimate the number of birds of each species that you can identify, and enter your tallies online. For more information go to www.birdcount.org. GBBC is hosted by the Cornell Lab, Audubon, and Bird Studies Canada.

  3. Elaine, this is truly a special event - my grand-father was a ornithologist in his spare time and he would have been the first to participate in this Global Bird Count, I am sure. Since I was always thrilled by his interest in birds, I will follow the link you provided and participate together with the kids!
    Thanks for sharing, Elaine!
    Have a wonderful Tuesday!

  4. That is such a great project - there are so many pressures on bird populations, crowd-sourcing information could be invaluable.
