Harvest Wreath

I wanted to share with you this wreath I made a few years ago. Each year I hang it over the living room fireplace after Halloween. It has a simple straw wreath form, with corn husks pinned in layers around the form. A satin ribbon adds the finishing touch. It takes a little time to make because you have to soak the corn husks so that you can work with them a little easier and then fold and pin them carefully to the form without splitting the husks, but I think the end result is worth the effort. My inspiration came from a wreath I saw at marthastewart.com. Follow the link for the instructions.

  1. I would worry about it molding; did you dry it in the sun, or...?

  2. Hi, Serene. You don't soak the corn husks for very long - just long enough to make them a little soft and pliable to pin them onto the form. Then you let them air dry. I made the wreath three years ago and none of the corn husks have gotten moldy.

  6. I agree - the brown, wide ribbon is so appealing. It truly finishes off this elegantly-made wreath! Such patience....!
